                        About CIS'2006

International Conference on Computational Intelligence and Security (CIS) is a major annual international conference to bring together researchers, engineers, developers and practitioners from academia and industry working in all interdisciplinary areas of computational intelligence and information security to share the experience, and exchange and cross-fertilize ideas. Following the big success of CIS’2005, CIS’2006 serves as a forum for the dissemination of state-of-the-art research, development, and implementations of systems, technologies and applications in these two broad fields. CIS’2006 is co-organized by IEEE (Hong Kong) Computational Intelligence Chapter, and Guangdong University of Technology. Also, it is co-sponsored by IEEE Hong Kong Section, Hong Kong Baptist University, Xidian University, and Jinan University.

International Workshop on Digital Rights

Management and Contents Protection

Introduction

Recent years have witnessed rapid developments of the information technology and communication network technologies, and the Next-Generation Internet, 3G and 4G wireless mobile networks have been striding to a large-scale deployment and application. Under this circumstance, the copyright infringement behaviors, such as the illicit copy, malicious distribution, unauthorized usage, free sharing of copyrights-protected digital contents, have already become a common phenomenon. Digital Rights Management (DRM) systems have a tangible goal to safeguard the rights and benefits of content owners, copyrights holders, digital services providers, and even consumers in content value chain, where the stakeholders are not fully trusted one another. In last decade, DRM and digital contents protections have laid emphasis on classical studies on cryptology, digital watermarking and usage control. Recently, some novel and challenging research frontiers related to DRM and contents protections are emerging, such as the trust issue, risk management, and user privacy, etc. Much more scholars and contents industry engineering attempt to resort to the state-of-the-art technologies and ideas to cope with the copyrights infringements and illicit usage over propertied digital assets. This half-day or one-day workshop aims to bring together related research works in the realm of Digital Rights Management and contents protection, and further investigate and discuss some open issues faced by contents owners/rights holders/digital services providers, who dedicate themselves to protect their Intellectual Property Rights and business benefits, as well as the unsolved issues from end consumers' perspective, for instance privacy protections and contents sharing, with a result of a survivable and flourish contents industry.

Topics

The workshop is involved in all-round theoretical and practical aspects of DRM and digital contents protection, as well as typical applications implementations and case studies. The workshop topics include, but are not limited to, those listed as follows:

Architecture for DRM systems

Contents protections, including but not limited to such traditional aspects as the authorization, encryption, tamper resistance, and watermarking

Trust and Business model for DRM ecosystem

Security vulnerability assessment and Risk Management in DRM

Secure protocols for user privacy protections

DRM & Trusted Computing-enabling technologies

Interoperability and availability of DRM systems

Implementations and case studies, including but not limited to contents protection system, and controlled digital content sharing scenario.

uting-enabling technologies

Implementations and case studies, including but not limited to contents protection system, and controlled digital content sharing scenario.
